Just don't look at any text, email, take phone calls while you are behind!

Margie has to stay off of Face Book. Someone will always post as soon as the game/race is over.

ABC?...Haven't watched anything on network TV for longer than I can remember...Don't miss any of it either...If they pulled all of them (CBS,ABC,NBC) tomorrow, I wouldn't realize it for years.

I learned very quickly the difference between dealing with AT&T and Comcast/Satellite.

AT&T is highly regulated compared to the other two.

I was easy and affordable to get phone service in Olympia Washington... not so for the other two.

Comcast wanted $14,400 for hook up... neighbors on both sides have it.

Satellite Dealer had a run in with my tenants and refused to install.

Can you imagine AT&T refusing to provide service when no money is owed?

Our Internet service is awful. We only have 1.5 MB down even though roads that are a 1,000 feet away have 10 MB down. Those road are serviced with new equipment so they have better data rates and I suspect reliability. We have CONSTANT outages. We can usually fix the problem by doing certain network modem resets which triggers something in the telco office and the network recovers. I would guess on average we have to do this once or twice a week.

People county wide report similar problems with the service provider but the company has a monopoly so we are stuck. The county commissioners are starting to hear about the issues so maybe THAT will get the company's attention.

My wifey did some work with the neighbors to try to get fast access from our current provider OR having cable run down the road. Cable is on the highway in front of us but the company will not string up the coax down our road. The housing density on our road is higher than the highway so you would think it would make money for the cable company. Neighbors called both companies and my wife talked to managers about expanding or adding service. She might as well have gone outside and talked to the rocks and trees for all of the good it did.

I would guess SOME cities might have some competition between the telco and cable but I suspect that is an exception for many people especially in rural areas.

Dan

Charter will deny it all day long, but..... We owned our own modem instead paying the rental fee which equaled buying a new modem every 9 months. We started having a lot of drop outs in our internet. Just blip off for a second, or maybe 5 minutes. We called, they sent out a service tech. He fixed some stuff. Helped, but in a couple of days, repeat. We went around and around with them. The service tech kept saying everything was perfect, his tests came through perfect. Soon as he left, it started acting up.

I talked to a friend of mine who's a computer tech. He said, "My son just went through this with Charter. They are blackballing customers who own their own their modems."

Fast forward through a few more service calls, a lot of pissed off people, a different modem that we bought, etc. etc. etc., we finally paid Charter's ransom, agreed to their modem, and keep paying that ransom every month. Guess what? The drop outs ended once we paid the ransom.

That's what monopolies conspiring with the government gets you. Screwed.

I can't wait to see what kind of crap they pull when we tell them to take their over priced, mostly worthless channels, cable tv and shove it up their butts and go with internet only.

I don't watch a lot of network TV...

Generally, Judge Judy is on during supper and have been a NCIS regular.

ABC does carry some sports programing that is not a must have for me.

I actually started watching ABC because viewing on the Net made it easy and convenient.

Then I may not be typical never having signed up for Cable or Sat.

Now both my brothers never had Cable or Sat either and for both of them that changed quick when they got married... now, both have the full package... the one with a 13" TV now has a media room with all the bells and whistles... oh, he had to put in A/C too... for the familiy... he still goes out to tend the horses when he gets home... so TV would be a very low priority.

I'm not sure what will happen up in Olympia Washington... it's proving difficult to find renters without having comcast or cell phone coverage over the air TV and only be 10 minutes from the State Capital.

Not watching ABC right now, but TVLand. Don't you love it when it takes 36 minutes to watch what used to be 1/2 hour show, COMMERCIALS INCLUDED?

More commercials. Higher rates. Who's getting all the money????????????????

We've got Amazon Prime and watch several past season TV series (I hate to try and watch them on air, as they air because I always miss one or two episodes) Most of the hour long episodes on TV run for 46 minutes without the commercials.
