Just to get the discussion back on "target", my 50BMG will take a substantial piece of steel out of a steel target. Its not clear to me whether the flyback in this video is bullet or target material. And what cartridge was being fired. My rifle came with some API rounds (illegal in Michigan I believe) so I had them sent back and exchanged for Barrett brand 661gr FMJ loads. There's a lot of jacket here, too. Perhaps a piece of this came back on him.
