No nearby Kioti dealer, shop Kioti anyway?

Pappy - I've been looking at used for months. The right one just isn't showing up!

But, I just found out there is a local Kioti dealer 40 miles away. I'll be calling them tomorrow.

:)

A few months is not a lot of time to be looking for used tractor of any brand. It takes time. Keep an eye open for a good 6 months to a year and you may luck out and save a ton. Look in neighboring areas that have a large retirement population. That demographic buys them and often don't use them much. They also take good care of them and unload them when they (the retirees) slow down.

Tom, you are right, I'm at six months and feel like I've just gotten started.

I'm going to do as suggested and go to the World Ag Expo in Tulare in February. Not convenient, but sounds interesting and should definitely be a learning opportunity. Thanks again, MtnViewRanch!

LindenBruce, "It looks like the closest LS dealer to the OP is in Bakersfield". Where did you find that? Who is it?

Bakersfield is also the nearest Mahindra dealer. May be same dealer. Looks like a three hour tour  is in my future!

Davrow, here is a link to the LS dealer in Bakersfield. Give them a ring to see what they can do for you. They also sell McCormick, which are re-badged Kioti's. Bruce

distance wasn't an issue for me I liked what I read and the features of Kioti and I traveled over 2 and a half hours to the nearest dealer, luckily for me a local dealer with 5 or 6 locations has now picked up the line after Bobcat quit the compact tractor line.

I finally called my local (25 miles) Kubota dealer for a quote on a BX25D. Sticker shock!

I want between 20-34 horsepower in the smallest quality tractor I can find. Been considering BX25, Mahindra Max (158 miles), LS (none in California as far as I can tell) and Kioti. Probably a CK.

I want an FEL, a backhoe, and 2 additional hydraulic remotes (top&tilt rear, grapple front). Kubota wants 2200 to add 2 remotes!

I really wanted to do business locally, but 22,000 just for a new subcompact tlb isn't going to work for me.

Question is, keep looking for a local used tlb, or get a Kioti quote from a distant dealer I will never meet? And can I realistically expect better pricing for a comparable Kioti?

Thanks,

Dave in San Diego

For $22K what all are you getting? A BX25D up here base price is $17K in round figures. That $2200 for the hydraulic adds seems outrageous. Most folks I know use a solenoid in the curl cylinder line to add a grapple and etc. That is going to be my solution when I get my grapple made. I have priced out a rear set of 4 stackable valves from Surplus center at a little over $400 and I would do the work myself. On the BX25 the 3 hydraulic connections are already there due to the BH, so a valve and the hoses is all you need. Anything like that with the tractor manufacturer name to it will probably cost twice as much as other after market sources. my dealers shop time is $125/HR so he has never seen my BX25 for 1000 HR. Maybe you need a vacation up here in the GREEN NW to buy your tractor. Tractors up here are not licensed or registered. Technically we are supposed to claim them as a personal property and pay an excise tax each year. That is only policed in the case of state licensed businesses.

Ron,
"Maybe you need a vacation up here in the GREEN NW to buy your tractor."
Sounds good, except I want to buy before May. We lived in Seattle for 11 years, we don't want to see any more gray!
I'm actually beginning to think the price is not so outrageous - for our area. Quote was 19.4 for the base BX25D. Understand that was a "call and get email quote". No face time or haggling, just a reference point to begin negotiations.
Should be buying late Feb or March, after the ag expo. I'll keep everyone posted.

That price up here is advertised in the local paper and is not negotiable. They are $1K below the competition (they have very low overhead, that is why I do not have them do repairs). If you are from out of state you do not pay the sales tax which is 8.6% here if you do. Also farmers with the state exemption number pay no sales tax either. Not sure about any communication between the two states on sales, have never heard. I know my Son in Law in Canada buys all his big ticket items here, pays the duty and still saves a bunch. They have them on the lot as we speak. Buy today, deliver tomorrow. Free delivery in the county.
