joester/Eddie,

I made the sales trip with no dip. Did the sugar free gum and mints. The hardest part was in the hotel room...bored out of my mind and wanted a dip.

But I went to the fitness room and worked-out instead, weights and treadmill, I got to get some weight back off, Jim Inman weighs less than me;):)

Keep it up. You are doing great. I went into a convenience store the other night and the clerk was saying how a pack of name brand cigs were going to cost over 5 bucks. He said chew was not too far behind and this was just the first raise. The next tax raise is coming in a couple more months. I sure am glad I don't have the habit.

The best advice I could ever give is: Once you quit don't ever start again! It only takes one weak moment and you're hooked again , and again, and again. I've quit many times only to "have just one this time" and then the vicious cycles starts all over.

I wish anyone who quits the best of luck - stick with it and you won't look back. It's a hard (real hard) habit to break but it can be done - remember that!

Remember those cinnamon toothpicks? I'd darn near eat those things when I was a kid.

I've known more than a few people who started back after having quit for a few years. I could never really understand that. It's sooooo difficult to quit in the first place. Why would you want to have to go through it again? When I was quitting smoking I told myself that if I lived to 85 years I would take up smoking again. Nothing would bother me more than to die and have nothing wrong with me.

Yep, my Dad quit smoking for just about a year once, gained about 40 pounds, and went back to smoking. Except for that year, he smoked from the time he was 22 until he died at the age of 80. Of course, his dad, who never smoked, also died at the age of 80. And his mother, who not only never smoked, but was adamantly opposed to smoking, died at the age of 74, and she was the one who died of lung cancer.

I wish you all the success in the world. Tobacco products are very addictive. Chewing tobacco and snuff ( Smokless Tobacco) are just as addictive as cigarettes. If you every have the opportunity to hear some of the former Major and Minor League Baseball players speak on chewing tobacco and snuff please do so. One good person to listen to is, Rick Bender. I have included a link to a site containing a photograph of him before and after.
