Actually, Midwest builds a 52" cut model. About 56" transport width.

Some mower decks are fully suspended and only have anti- scalp rollers. The tractor carries the full weight of the deck and thus that weight is transfered to the tractor's tires. The best example of this is the Kubota BX 60 MMM. The little rollers you see are designed to ride about 3/4 inch above the ground and in theory contact the ground only on uneven surfaces thus preventing scalping. Most larger tractors such as my 2410 have the inferior--my opinion--ground contact type MMM deck. The mower deck is carried by it's own wheels which ride along the ground. These wheels being rather small jump and bump and sink into soft areas. They have castors which allow them to turn with the tractor. Rough ground is well--ah--rough on these type decks whereas the fully suspended deck floats along essentialy carried by the larger tractor tires. I don't know if I explained it well enough but I imagine the size tractors you are looking at will be ground contact type decks and not to be a party spoiler in ---my opinion---you will not be doing a lot of tight manuvering around trees and beds with a tractor the size you are talking about. I recommend you get the TC30 without a MMM. The MMM will run probably 2,500 dollars anyway. Take the cash and go buy a Cub Cadet or go to Home Dimwit and get one of those JD lawn tractors. They have suspended decks and will be a much better mower. If you insist --like me---on having one machine do everything then--my opinion--the B2410, JD4110, TC21/24 and BX2200 and JD2210 are much better choice for a MMM. Though some of these are ground contact the overall smaller size of the tractor provides increased manuverability and lower impact on your lawn areas and soil compaction problems or potential problems (it will be a problem with a huge tractor mowing over and over your lawn--my opinion). Not only that but those 30 horse units will have 72 inch decks and will be very heavy to mess with when removing and installing while the BX 60MMM is almost a snap to R&R and the 2410 is only like a minor struggle usually not involving the loss of blood etc. J

I have a JD4115, 60"MMM, FEL, tiller, 54" hydraulic blade, tiller and R4 tires. I am extremely pleased with the operation of this tractor for only 24HP. I also wanted a highly manuverable CUT for finish yard work, landscaping, fruit trees, pasture mowing and logging in the woods. This tractor has done all it has been asked so far without a backhoe. If I needed a backhoe it probably would be a pretty a big job and I would rent or hire a neighbor who has one. I do have 25 acres of land 3+ finish mowing and 6 acres field mowing which I do with the 60"MMM and it does a great job on both (I only mow the field 2-3 times a year). For firewood gathering it is a superb tractor in the woods even with hilly terrain, smaller trails are required and it is easier to move around the trees during forest maintenance activities.
It is my opinion that the only ideal 24 hp CUT is the one you can afford for the work you "need", and a dealer who can provide great service for your CUT. As we all know any one tractor cannot perform all task you might dream about.

A year ago I was shopping for the 'perfect' 24hp tractor. I was real close to getting the b2410 and looked for input from TBN. Learned a whole lot (much from many of the same folks who have posted in this thread already) ... I shopped and shopped some more. Finding TBN made the process much more enjoyable. I had worked my way up to a Kubota 2910 and thought that was going to be the one, then I tried out the Kubota L3010. Found it to be bigger than I ever thought I'd go, but I'm sure glad thats what I ended up buying. I love working with this tractor, to me, it is the perfect one. I agree with Tres Crows that its hard to get one tractor to do it all. I still need my 17hp simplicity for mowing around the house. With a 5' rotary cutter on the L3010 I'm amazed at all the ground I've been able to clear.
Enjoy the hunt. As has been said here before, sit in as many seats as you can. You'll be glad you did.

This is a very old post but just to update, I ended up finding a used B2410 (year 2002) with 25 hours on it from an individual, love the tractor. Still don't have many hours (60) but I do have a larger NH. It came with the mmm and bagging system. I have found that I never use the bagging system, it just takes up space in the garage. How much is it worth (near perfect cond), I expect it cost over 2 grand new. Dealer said it would be worth $600 to $700, what do you all think? I may put it on ebay or try to trade it in to the dealer on a RTV or ATV. Opinions appreciated. Thanks

Rodney, I'm not sure if you're saying it's a NH bagging system, or a Kubota bagging system, but you may get a better answer if you post your own thread on it in the respective forum.
Many people only go to their brand's forum and may not have seen your question. Good luck, John

I was looking at a nice 2002 B2410 but i passed on it because I was able to get a new BX 23 for less because of the 0% financing.

B2410 is quite a bit more tractor in my opinion for my needs. Bx23 has its benefits and may be better for some users.

Bagging system is Kubota.
