No one is questioning his, or your, knowledge/ability. I've been in the mechanical field for more than 40 years, state licensed for engine, trans, rear axle, AC, electrical, brakes, etc, etc, but that doesn't mean I can find every existing problem and fix it on my own. Sometimes the obvious gets past us and we rely on help from others - at least that's what I do. I just offered additional info (that I took notice of) and threw it out for the OP and no one else unless they are/were interested.

I apologize to the OP for this thread derailment. I hope he solves his problem and gets back in the operator's seat soon.

Thanks for the props, Mike. I've been the parts manager here at PPTE for a couple years or more now. Life's a little better in the front half of the building.

And a burned wire can many times be self evident of the issue. IE. corrosion.. short to chassis.. coroded connectors..e tc.

in any case.. it may not be troubleshootable untill you repair the circuit then observe function. so i agree with rick's assessment of the situation.
