You can try Cenex they have a off road pump at most locations in WA. They also deliver to you at home if you have a bulk tank.

There is NO difference between "off road" and regular diesel...they are the same product.....NO higher sulfur content diesel is being refined in the US....The only difference is that "off road" is dyed with AR dye...Automated Red dye....same stuff that makes transmission fluid red....colored red to help the inspection stations find tax cheats....BIG fine....if you are caught....

Heard a sad talef a guy who puta quart of transmission fluid in his diesel in an effort to cure some seal problem he had...went to a livestock auction in the truck, some officials checked his tank...he could not prove the transmission fluid was the cause of the red tint. It was a big fine!

It appears I would have to go out of my way considerably for saving maybe $1.00 and risk stale fuel- so I wont

That may be true as of now, but when I purchased my last fuel was in January of 2004. The dealer made sure I was aware that it was high sulfur diesel before he would sell it to me.

TractorLegend I know here in Portland I am able to get off road fuel from several different places. Not all of them are dyed red. I do have to fill out a tax form for them to process and I don't get the full tax savings but normally 24 to 35 cents per gallon. You might try some of the small stations near the edge of town and just ask them what they have. Oh and they will only pump them into the fuel cans or a holding tank. They will not pump into a actual vehicle tank someone was tossing a fit one day when I was getting fuel for the tractor because I was getting it so much cheaper than he was for his truck. All I could do is laugh at the person because I use mine off road only in the tractor. Check the local stations that sell diesel as I know at least here in Portland, OR not all stations use the red dye for the fuel and you might be able to get fuel that isn't stale for a reduced price.

Here in VA you can apply for a refund of the state tax ($0.16) to the DMV when used in off road equipment... so if you cant find off road diesel you can atleast try to get your tax back if your state has a similar refund deal..

I have been told that you can take the federal tax ($0.244) off your taxes some how for the same reason.. but I dont know that for a fact..

good luck

My station takes off the road tax if I pump into my tractor or diesel barrel.

Just filling my first new BX-23 tank today, and surprised to see the fill nozzle was bigger than the spout on the brand new yellow diesel can I bought. This was at an on-road pump. Is this the standard so that folks don't put diesel in their gas cars? but then why aren't the yellow cans equipped with a larger mouth to accept this crazy big nozzle? What do you guys do?
