I got a kick out of reading that... lol Do you think those of us that have a gear drive tractor never become "one" with that style of transmission?? lol lol

I have my Woodland Mills stump grinder on a "gear drive" tractor (with creep) and it's no big deal at all, I ground 32 stumps one day, and it went as smoothly as when I'm on a whiner tranny tractor. It's really all about getting use to, what you own...

My gear drive tractor makes less heat, uses less fuel and has more PTO power to the grinder, stump grinders suck up PTO power like crazy and more PTO power = deeper cuts.

AHA!, you have a creeper gear, which probably also means you have a pretty fair sized tractor with some real PTO horsepower too. Am I right?

I have three with creeper gears, I mean if you are going to buy a tractor aren't you supposed to think of what "future use" you may have for your new tractor??

The grinder is on a 40hp tractor right now, that's hardly a fair sized tractor, but it's still big enough to become "one with it"! lol Sorry man, that line really cracked me up!! ha ha ha

So the Dali Llama, err, I mean K0ua, walks up to a hot dog cart.
The vendor asks him “What kind of hot dog you want?
K0ua says “Make me one with everything!”

Sorry man...just picking on ya.

Yes, well with a creeper gear set, AND some real PTO horsepower, my point is that you can take bigger bites and go slow enough with the creeper gears to do the job. Now what is someone with a geared tractor with six or eight gears and a smaller tractor to boot supposed to do? This grinder is NOT going to be ideal for him. yeah sure he maybe could use the bucket to move the tractor slowly trick, but I think you would admit that would not be ideal like the small tractor guy with a hydro OR as in your case a creeper gear tractor. That was my actual point.

Yes, I will admit that "becoming one with your tractor", might have been a little over the top, and yes I realize that gear tractor operators operate their tractors in a thoughtless manner ( I just couldn't resist, the devil made me do it) too. :D

In any case I still think the grinder is a great grinder from all accounts, IF you have a hydro tractor OR a tractor with creep gearing to go slow enough to utilize it AND Mr. Wolfe, there is nothing wrong with your setup with the increased complexity and a stationary tractor with hydraulic control of the wheel positioning, EXCEPT, it costs more money. AND your tractor must be set up or made to be set up with 2 sets of hydraulic remotes. All fine and the dandy.

As for Coby Rupert, you are just gigging me in the azz. And that is fine too. BUT I may retaliate some day. Maybe..:dance1:
