Running on one cylinder. Is this a safety switch issue? Coil shows no resistance and there is no voltage to the coil and there are no problems with the wire as it crosses the motor. The connector further downline shows no voltage to this wire either.

Not a safety switch issue. Unless you are running one of the bigger Kohlers with spark advance, you don't want any voltage to the coils. It will fry the modules on the Briggs, or Kohler either one. Disconnect the wire going to the modules, and check for spark, if no spark replace module. The wire connected to the module is a kill grounding wire only, not voltage.

Dang, new coil makes a new mower :) thanks Randy.... just a few new senior moments logged.
