Noisy little bugger.

Being new to the compact tractor world, I find that my '79 b7100 is a real noisy little bugger, nothing unexpected for a diesel, just a lot noisier than I'm used to. Are the new kubota model's any quieter?

I can't offer a comparison since I have no experience with circa '79 equipment, but the new stuff is loud. I use earmuffs pretty much all the time. I actually find that if I use my tractor for any length of time without them that I become real frazzled. It's hard to describe, but the sustained noise has a real impact on me. I get the same way if I'm outside in the city for too long.

Yes, I might have to break down and buy some muffs. The "marbles in a paint can" gets to me after a while too.

I don't know the actual decibel ratings, but we might be talking permanent hearing impairment here also. I always wear the muffs, since I can't afford to lose any more (too many loud concerts as a kid!)

My 2001 model b2910 is a lot quieter than an older 1981 Ford 1100 I grew up with. It seemed to me that it got noisier the older it got. Maybe somebody else would know . . . do tractor mufflers rust/wear out?

My 2001 B7500 is way quieter than my recently traded-in 1981 B5100E - even with that humungous exhaust pipe/silencer sticking up in the air.

Yes indeed the mufflers wear out,and they can cause racket.
