I have shopped a few used, upscale units and I am absolutely not opposed to that. But my ignorance remains.

There is just as big a blurr of used stuff, including Deere, Cadet etc used as new.

Fellas, I would need SPECIFIC model Deeres, from say, 1994 to present?

You'd think that my past success with basic, low budget mowers would give me insight, but actually, it works against me. I am pretty sure things have changed in the 5-8 years, I am not up to speed, and I sure cannot afford to buy a junker, new or used.

My L118 Deere does a great job mowing the grass and definatly takes abuse since I'm not the only one that uses it. What about a belly mower on your bota? My gradpa has one on his 2210 Deere and it is a lot better than my L118 and isnt a cheap piece of junk.

You could try and find a case or ingersoll mower, i have a case 446 that is 31 years old but i dont use it to cut grass, i use it to keep the drive and yard leveled. There should be alot of the in michigan to be had for a descent price. Of course the way its been mantained will have alot to do with how much longer its gonna be running with no problems.

My brother just bought a JD with a wide cut HS drive that has 800 hours on like a twin Kohler water cooled engine for $1750. It had just came in from a trade and never taken into the shop of a large Case dealer. He was wanting to get the green machine out of there and knew when my brother bought it AS-IS that that my brother knew what that meant. I think knowing he would never have to see it again or catch grief over it when when something broke made him a motivated seller but I am sure he made some money too.

He told my bother if he sent it though the shop and replaced one tail light and the hood that has a chip out of one corner it would be more like $4000.

Next time I see it I check the number on it but it did not look too old of a model. That would be like 20 weeks of 8 hour days.

OK, in the end, that is what I have done. After weeks of examining the lower priced riders, I just couldn't. The ride comfort on them just doesn't agree with my lumbar anymore.

Ordered this. With rain scheduled for the weekend, I won't get to try it out, it seems, but with the rain, it sure is going to be tested next week.

Nice choice. Thats going to look great behind your BX and you will be comfortable as well. Should outlast about ten boxstore tractors.
