A while back there was a good thread on recliners. My wife absolutely needs a new chair, hopefully recliner. BUT, it can't be smelly / toxic. She read about Green Guard products, so we head to town and stopped at a Lazy Boy store and they had no clue.

I remember the thread about people ordering, getting the chair they wanted. Anyone run across such a thing in their search or could offer me guidance?

Some people are really affected by new furniture off-gassing chemicals. Keeping it outside for a while will help, especially if it is in the hot sun or a hot room.

UltraComfort America, Old Forge, PA may be able to help you. 866-255-9962 wew.ultracomfort.com
We have two and love them. I would have to do some digging to find the paperwork but I do not recall overly obnoxious outgassing if any.

Over the years I've got several recliners from Lazy Boy. I've never been bothered by any smells. Neither have any of my dogs. They all seemed to like them too. Both my current recliners are LB.

My recliner is leather and held up for many years (25?). Our WI made sofas and chairs didn't smell bad nor this IN made recliner. It was made in Indiana at this company.

I never noticed my Lazy Boys stinking either, but they were bought in December 1987. I bet something has changed since then.

I bet one of them smells like me by now. :)

The Lazyboy store itself just about gassed her out. Thanks for the thoughts.

Stressless by Ekorness makes really nice recliners. Expensive but worth it.

We've had those in the past as well. They are nice.

In case you are still looking, I recently bought a leather recliner from Costco that had a green guard tag on it. On sale for 399. It is very comfortable. Called Gillman Creek.

One thing about leather furniture. You will be using something to keep the leather clean and supple. I have no leather furniture. I do have leather trim in the Taco Wagon.

I've tried a few products. Each has its own "after" smell. I've decided that Griot's leather cleaner/rejuvenator works best for me. The "after" smell is very close to the original leather odor. It does a great job - keeping the leather wrapped steering wheel clean - just like new. It has kept the upper dash clean and age-crack free for five years now. I smear this stuff on and rub in about every three months.

Just use good ol' saddle soap. Has served me well over the years with my leather gloves! When they get grundy enough, wear them under warm running water to wet them, slather some saddle soap on, and work it through! Hang or place on boot/glove drier. When dry, remove and beat them against the outside handrail to soften back up.
