Norse 450 logging winch value

Hello, I am looking at buying a 2008 Norse logging winch. It has always been stored under cover, until the last few months when it was put up for sale on the side of the road. It looks to be in good shape, paint is still bright and it is not banged up. He told me it prob has only 5 hours on it. The guy who is selling it for owner told me to make a offer on it and he would tell the owner. I see they are $5,500 new these days. I also saw on a forum someone said they were $3,000 in 2015.

So what do you think would be a reasonable offer would be? Obviously I would like to offer a low ball number that is not offensive.

It will be used on [AFFILIATE=1, nofollow=true, newwindow=true, title="Kubota"]Kubota[/AFFILIATE] m7060, which seems to be a good sized tractor for the winch.

We just bought a ready to use farmi for 600. But I realize it was a deal. Offer 2000; see if they bite. You can crawl up from there. Things are getting scarce. What's a new one, 5,000 or so? His mind is on 2500, you may can get for 2300 or so.

They're scarce (used) around here.
I might start at close to whatever you think that you'd pay for it or what's its worth to you being that your not dealing directly with the seller for the "negotiations" and the next guy might just swoop in and grab it for $100 over your starting bid.
If it looks like the 5 hours is a realistic estimate of it's use and I've been looking at $5500 new winches, I'd feel lucky to find this one for $4500.

If it's been for sale a few months he is not going to sell it cheap - he must have seen some offers by now. So I sorta agree with what Rustyiron said but it is 25 years old ??? I have a 25 year Farmi with a lot of hours on it that works like it was new. It's a hard call. I always think 1/2 on something in good working order so you might try 3/4 ??

I didn't realize it was that new. The one we bought is well used and has done hundreds of acres. Was still fine in condition. Yeah I'd pay more if it's fairly new. We looked at new ones, all high and way off somewhere. That means shipping, got to avoid that too.

To me if they won't put a price on it they are just fishing and don't really want to sell.

He defiantly wants to sell it. It is owned by a senior who sold his land and moved to Florida. The local guy selling it for the owner leased the owners farm, did all the fencing around it, and etc. It is by the road at a local harware store with the scrape blades they sell.

Honestly I was thinking of offering $1,500 but maybe I should offer $2,000.
