Northern lights

have been looking but saw nothing, been pretty cloudy here, just checked again and nothing /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I saw them on Thursday night. It was absolutely amazing. The whole northern sky was lit up. It looked like a giant shield that went from the horizon (about 45° on either side of north) to a point that stopped directly overhead. The side on the east was bright red and the further west you looked the lighter it became....the western edge looked bright white. I wish I got some pictures.
