Northern Tool...cheap? maybe not!

Ah Bird, I wish you hadn't told me that. Now instead of a quick one day trip to Bass Pro and visit friends in the big city, it'll become a whole week-end jaunt. I can see it now, Friday night Texas Rangers game (to keep wife happy), Saturday at Northern Tool, Saturday night at Rangers game (to keep wife very happy), Sunday at Bass Pro and home Sunday night. EastTxFrank, theres an NT store out on 80 east of Mesquite I think. That might be closer.

Alan, it's actually on the southwest corner of I-30 and Beltline, which seems like Mesquite to me, but is actually in Garland. That's where I bought my 3 ton arbor press and a number of other things. And a couple of years ago, they had one just west of Central Expressway (U.S. 75) in Richardson. I was only in it once, but a few months ago, I went over there and it was closed up and the building's for lease.

I bought an 8hp Kohler off of Ebay for $75, the shipping was $85. Still a good price for the engine but I thought the shipping was pricey.

Having both stores nearby (Grand Prairie and Mansfield), I've been able to do quite a bit of comparison shopping.

TSC is great if you know what you want and don't need any help..plus they're a little cheaper.

Northern Tool is great if you need some questions answered or a little customer service......but a little higher.

Just my experience..

Today was opening day for them; very nice store with lots of things most of us would like to have. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Frank, pretty soon you will be able to hit Northern Tool and Bass Pro within a few minutes of each other. A new Bass Pro is now under construction about 2-3 miles east of the NT at Belt Line and I-30. It's on the shores of Lake Ray Hubbard at I-30 and Chaha. Should be open by Christmas, I think.
