Under the old format it was faster than using the back button to go back under the same forum to the list of threads. Now it just takes me back to the 1st page of the thread I'm looking at. Also I liked that if you wanted to jump forums it started to list from the forum you were in, now every time I have to scroll through all of them.

.

I agree with this. Not having the direct link on the page to go to various levels within the site is a pain in the azz.

Before, you could go either to the main forum page, or the sub-forums with a sinfgle click, now you have to muck around with navigation.

Incidentally, is there any change to auto-notification with this server?

Not sure if it is just my browser settings (chrome)......

But I see a lot of Ctrl+ reccomendations, and thats fine, but for me, zooming in cuts other parts out/off of the screen. If I zoom in about to where it was before, it cuts off the "my profile" button at the top left, and on a forum where it lists posts, it cuts off the time of the last post.

If I zoom WAY out, hey come back into view, but are then like a 6-pt font:confused2:

Well I just read this thread from start to finish (not a large thread) and my eyes are sore and tired already. I used to spend lots of time just browsing the forums, can't see me doing this any longer it really is painful on my eyes.
Also as already stated by others the Reply to Thread button at the bottom of the page does not work.
There used to be selections at the top of the page and you could choose messages in last 24 hours or messages since I last logged on (not sure of exact wording). Where have they gone...If I logged on multiple times a day was easy to find what I wanted.
Well I now have to log off this is really really hurting my eyes (no exaggeration) I find the whole colour scheme terrible
I know a lot of hard work has gone into the update but sometimes the original design is better

After replying to a thread this morning, I am NOT impressed with this format AT ALL !! I tried to do a multi-quote, which worked, but every time the mouse cursor left the reply window I lost my position within the window and had to scroll around to get back to it. In one phrase, this thing is a POS.

I agree with many of the posters, it's harder to read in most cases. Making things smaller, see the box that opens for the smileys for example, or the type size in this reply box, shows a lack of awareness that many, or most users are older, and can't see anymore like we did when we were the age of the developers. Looks like you "kids" need the perspective of an older person no your development team.

Not an seeing much improvement yet. So far, it looks like change for the sake of change. :smiley_aafz:

Going to take some time to get use to..but over the years from other TBN changes we made it.

The favorite saying of an old friend used to be "The nemesis of good is better." Each "upgrade" seems worse than the last one. We eventually get accustomed to the new one; but it almost never gets as good as it was years ago.

Thank you. I didn't know that about Ctl +/-

Wait a minute--i did it and think it made everything on my computer "large type". Still checking.

Too bright, very hard to read, not enough contrast, too much white space, very hard on the eyes. :confused2::confused2::confused2:
I do not like it.

In the spirit of trying to make helpful suggestions instead of just complaining, here's some stuff I noticed.
I recently loaded Firefox 13. It has some new feature that shows thumbnails of the pages previously loaded. I captured a snapshot of them and it shows how much more content was on the older format of the page.

Things I notice:
1) the title bar is larger (although the TBN logo is smaller)
2) the forum title font is much larger
3) lots of white space in the middle could show me more threads that it does
4) unread thread highlighting is easier to spot on the old screen (pale yellow instead of white and gray)
5) it doesn't show in this snapshot, but every thread used to be the same height, now the height varies a fair amount, but all of the threads take up more space than they used to

TBN.jpg

In my opinion, things like graphics (blue title bar) look cool the first time you see them. However they take up more space on the screen and once the visual factor wears off, they get in the way. I come here to read stuff. I don't spend time staring at the R4 tread.
