Hey Jude,
I think you'll be very happy with the
BX2200. Got mine w/ FEL & 60" mower in January after staring very hard and even bidding on iron as big as a
B2400. The biggest plus is that my wife isn't afraid of the
BX2200 and even likes using it. Of course it's a slower going at the heavy work than a
B2400 would be, but there is very little it won't do given will and a little imagination.
Here is my list of major feature diffs.
Model - Gross/PTO horsepower, Steering/Position, Weight,
Lift/Lift@24", Pump Capacity. Tach
BX2200 - 22/16.7hp, PS/DC, 1300lb, 1210/680lb, 5.5gpm, Notach
B7500 - 24/16hp, PS/DC, 1367lb, 1356/1058lb, 7.0gpm, Tach
The
BX2200 engine hp rating is a bit on the high side since it is rated at a higher RPM, but as you can see there is only only a little difference in HP & PTO HP. The big differences are in the implement lift and the +27% hydraulic capacity (which translates to hydraulic HP). Of course there's 6" vs 11" roughly of ground clearance.
So far the BX has been all I've expected and it's fun to use too. The FEL is easy to use and powerful enough to roll 8' by 30" oak logs where I want 'em and to carry loaders full of hardwood and unweighed stone. I've had no trouble moving other downed trees into piles with the dragbar.
The FEL bucket works well enough for my needs removing snow from 150ft of smooth driveway and the end of a street, but you'd want a blade or blower for more extensive snow use (too much lifting & dumping w/ the FEL).
I would like to hear about GlueGuy's stump removal technique too.
