I think the point that some are trying to make is that they shouldn't have the right of recourse.

Yes, I know that. However, one of those same people is insisting that a face cord is 1/3 of a cord, when in reality, a face cord has no depth measurement at all. It's just 4' x 8' by whatever the person selling it wants it to be.

Well, I am out. Getting ready to get back to cutting a tree down in a day or two. Temps have come up into the 50s so what snow remains (about 6") should be gone by then. Ground apparently is not frozen as I have seen no sigh of run-off.

Let us know how many cords you get out of it....

:)

If someone needs to buy a "face cord" and there stove will only take a 16 inch stick, they should order it 20 inch and cut 4 inches off it themselves and throw the cut offs in the stove 5 at a time to get there moneys worth.

People must just be screwing around. Need to get a winter hobby.

Do you think the logs are going to be cut different length, when they sell them in the cord stack, vs face cord stack?

How can you sell a cord, if you are so scared of buying a 1/3 of a cord? Only honest sellers sell cords? Dishonest sellers sell face cord, looking for high school drop outs to prey on?

Even if you can't do math, they give 3 dimensional values for both. I realize it is not uncommon or was, to estimate a face cord as 8' truck bed of wood. But anything you buy spread out in a pile, is going to be an estimate, cord or face. Pick it up yourself stacked, and you will know. Whether one face cord or 3 face cords. You are taking there word if you buy 3 face cords on trailer or dump truck.

But an adult should be able to say, I'll take that amount of wood before for the price they are asking. Free country, shouldn't need a nanny. I bet you guys are the same folks who report when kids sell lemonaid. Keep an eye out on the boyscouts and the popcorn. But I bet you never reported the cookie sales.

Yes, because when bucking, one tree is for face cords and one tree is cords. They mark them with paint to keep track. You will see it when you go out in the woods. Blue is cord, and orange is face cord, according to USF.

It seems to be mostly a yankeefied mentality thing...mostly here in the south wood is usually advertised and sold as a full cord or a "load" where loads are described by trailer or truck size and how it's loaded (level, piled etc.)

Here is a pic of a typical "load" of wood that would be described as a "full pickup load"...!

It is true. I was thinking the math thing. Was southern, but was afraid to say it these days.

Not to mention, southern are so knowledgeable of home heating.

I just lost my Pristine Stihl 036 PRO, having gotten pinched and then totally smashed. MY STUPIDITY! I was debating whether salvaging this huge fallen tree was worth the effort in fire wood. Now, I'm guessing certainly NOT!

Even worse. I'm told now, I can't even buy a comparable saw at any cost! Makes me question, why I even bother sometimes.
