Not sure if metric or imperial bolts and nuts on the FX255D

I have one more question about bolts, would you have any idea what size bolts are used to hold the front-end loader on 'in mid-frame'

'in mid-frame' ; I can't upload a photo so I might be able to give a good enough description.
A couple of bolts along the side in middle at base of the frame of the tractor to attached some front-mounted lifting device blade or some such thing.

I do have electrical questions but I'll start a new thread for them.

I assume you are asking about bolts holding the loader mounting brackets to the tractor frame with threaded holes.

Sorry no ideal. I try to remember to check that mine are tight a couple of times a year as well as the bolts connecting the various pieces to together. My loader has both. I do not have any torque specs either just being sure they have not worked loose from usage.

LeeSB,
Not trying to be a smarty but I think a set of thread gauges, both SAE and Metric would well worth the money. This afternoon, I used the set that came with my HF tap and die set to determine which pitch thread I had. Like you, I didn't know whether my thread was Metric or SAE. They worked great. Gauges are available on EBAY and other places.

On those same lines, a digital caliper set will give you a fairly accurate diameter reading also. Again if it is a hole on the tractor frame, it will be meter. If on the loader frame, any one’s guess. You may also measure a bolt if you can get to one.

Yesss
I only have one bolt holding the whole assembly at the moment.
And it's a little bit scary... ;-)

Wow, I agree that is scary. I think I would remove all of it until I could get bolts.
If you do remove it, before doing so, mark which places need bolts, then use that one to check if your holes all take that one bolt. If they do, take that will you to where every you buy your bolts and they should have a bolt chart there for you to figure out your diameter and thread pitch.

Yeah... the original title of the thread is misleading to this question
I know all the bolts on my tractor are metric unless they've been replaced.
Thank you for the trip, I'm sure I'm going to use it very soon... :)

I used to own an F255 for 12 yrs, It had a Koyker loader on it. I miss that tractor.
I only own 1 yanmar now, its an FX235-D for mowing, its very close to the 255, except the tires are larger.
If you have a lot of questions you can send a private message if you like.

To make matters worse is guys like me that don't have much metric stuff at home and way out in the country so, I have a great supply of US taps and dies, fasteners. When something breaks and I don't have the correct metric, I did upgrades to US common fasteners and tapped holes. My YM3000 had as many as 25 of these "conversions" over the years before it went down the road. I'd say, dial cal set and a thread pitch gage are your friend if you can't tell just by looking at the fastener. Moving to the new metric standard is and was a nightmare for us machinists in the trades. It's a standard practice that we are required to furnish our own tools. After we purchase $20,000 in a tool set so we can earn a living, some fool changes to the metric system thinking it makes us more competitive over seas or off shore. Employers being cheap, want us to purchase our own new metric set of tools. No argument that moving to a metric standard is more profitable for them, not much for us in manufacturing. No provisions made for us again, we need a new set of tools to comply to the new standard so their business is more competitive ???
Much easier to just retire and let the new guy figure it out. Most likely the new guy will live in China anyway. Sad tale.
