Nothing But Mud

Like everyone else, it's too wet to mow and needed it too bad not to, and, as Jim said, more rain in the forecast for the next few days. So yesterday and today, I mowed, very slow going, wheels sinking in the mud at times, but only one place that I mowed through standing water. See my post (post #42) in this thread.

Well, East Texas is muddy as well. I have been trying to work on a site for a nes shed but it is too wet. A few weeks ago I was pulling some old posts and I got stuck. Fortunately, I had the FEL on and it was easy to push myself free. I then quit and have not worked the site since.

In the mean time I am working on the tractor gettting it ready for Spring/Summer. Also, welding a few things. Fixing the FEL bucket.

Kinda muddy here as well, though not as bad as most folks seem to have.

Just moved into my new place in January, and it was vacant for a couple years before I got here. The lack of care it received has good and bad points ... the good is that there is no grass to mow, since the ground has been covered in leaves. The bad is that since there is no grass, it is gonna be a mud pit ... LOL. Walking through the yard a bit today, I was kicking some leaves aside and found more moss than grass!

At least I got my chipper up and running today so I have some help in getting the place cleaned up

Yesterday was very light rain or sprinkles nearly all day. It only put about .44" of rain in my gauge, but since the ground was already completely saturated . . . . well, I've been readin' up on rice and crawfish farming. I think my yard is about ready. Over half my yard is standing water and we're getting a heavy rain right now. It wasn't raining at 7 a.m. when I emptied my gauge from yesterday's rain, and it didn't start until mid-morning, very light and by 3:30 p.m. only about a tenth of an inch but in the last hour it's gone past the half inch mark and still raining.

Yea Bird, raining here on the coast again today. Supposed to be more tomorrow. I watched a hawk catch a few crawdads in the yard this weekend. They have spread thier operation from the ditches into the yards now lol.

Wow, the heavy stuff didn't last long; only lost the satellite reception briefly, we didn't have what I'd call storm level winds, but it did blow rain all the way through the 22' breezeway, in spite of 2' eaves on either side. And then it quit and bright sunlight appeared. I figure I only got .55" of rain in the gauge. Of course that's .99" for yesterday and today.

You know, yesterday it had just dried up enough here in Kansas so that my tractor tires were mud free after a day of work. Temps were in the 60's for 3 days in a row. Now they're forecasting 2 inches of rain tomorrow, and rain 5 out of the next 6 days! Oh well, at least I got in a little seat time over the weekend. Time to look for some indoor projects.

I figure I only got .55" of rain in the gauge. Of course that's .99" for yesterday and today.

I got 1.4" total of Sunday-Monday. I also lost my satellite signal for about 5 minutes during the peak of the storm yesterday. It got very dark out just before the rain.

I had a UPS delivery yesterday and the driver told me there were a few driveways in our area that he would not drive down to deliver packages.
