Now I realize the importance of brush guards

Do the B-3030 and Grand L series with HST tranny have a hydraulic oil cooler in front of the radiator? My L-3130 GST doesn't have a hydraulic oil cooler but I figured an HST would need one.

On my L-3130, the battery is directly behind the plastic grill guard in front of the radiator, however on the L-39 GST the hydraulic oil cooler and lines are where the battery is exposed to be pierced by some branch.... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Redrocker,

Could you post a picture of the rest of your hood guard?

John

I agree. I was thinking that if you happen to lay it down and get careless or distracted, it would be real easy to walk off and forget that nice axe.

(My cousin went through a stage of forgetfulness. About three seasons in a row, he'd be baling hay and stop with some type of problem with the baler or tractor and start to grease the machine as he waited for help to come;, and then forget to pick the grease gun up from the windrow. Of course eventually they always showed up again - in a bale of hay) /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

It very easy to lose stuff out in the field or woods.

It looks like in your picture you have a canopy that folds back in order to get your tractor in your garage. If that is the case could you post some pictures as I have been wanting to do this myself.
Thanks,

The Fiskars axes are fantastic. They do the work of a much larger axe and even handle machete' type duties as well. I've been trying to figure out how to attach mine to the ROPS. I may just use the snap on cover as mentioned above.

I was pushing a bunch of brush around in my L4400 the other day and when done, I looked at the left side of the engine and two loose wires were hanging down. When I got down and looked, they were hanging down from a wire harness just above the starter. One went to a plug that went into the block, the other went into a slot just below the starter.

I have no idea what they were and everything, including gauges and starter worked just fine with them unplugged.

I'm sure a piece of brush pulled them loose.

I also had a piece of brush slide under the deck and push the accelerator forward! I was in low gear so it didn't surge forward and I was able to clutch and break quickly.

In any case, brush can get into a lot of strange places and frequent inspection after working in it is probably a good idea.
