I'd think the more important consideration is what have they done to change the design? It will do you absolutely no good to get a new one if it's the same thing. It'll happen again. If they say it's been modified, then the cheaper route would be to have them send you the beefed up parts and have a local shop modify yours (or do it your self if you can weld).

after talking with widkat thursday i am not going to send it back { another 150.00 } for shipping. they sent me heavier parts for both sides & some xtra parts to beef up the supports.

i have a friend who is a retired welder that will do the welding { no charge ].

they were willing to work with me so the decision was mine. she also said that doing the work myself would not void the warranty.

so far i am pleased. i will post pix of the parts when they arrive.

That's the kind of out come that makes a really good company. Glad to see that things are looking up for ya. I'm wondering what they send you to reinforce it . It will be cool to see it when you get it done. I just got mine done today and I'll be picking mine up tomorrow . Cost me $100, but well worth it ,he did an awesome job with it. ( Oh and a few PBR'S) good luck!

I break stuff all the time, you usually get what you pay for. My understanding is that these are lighweight grapples so they are going to be built lighter and when you are talking something built with steel it means weaker. I have a cheaper grapple and I expect that someday soon I am gonna bend the crap out of it. I will then fire up the welder, torch and put some more steel weigh on it, hopefully in the right places. I had a heavier grapple but sold it to my nephew for his big skid steer because it was just too heavy for my little L35. I would never have been able to break it but I never would be able to do much with it either. I have attached pics of a swing grapple I bought cheap, same deal, I could never break it because I can't lift anything with it. We have smaller tractors because they work best for what we need to do jsy gotta remember not to bite off more than they can chew.
