Good deal. If you can eliminate hydric soils as possible then you're in good shape.

I really dislike the wetland rules.

Tell me about it ! Around here, you can't build within 50' of wetlands, let alone trying to fill it without a Dredge & Fill permit. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Funny thing, but my first thought when seeing that stub was "UGLY!!!" I guess beauty really is in the eyes of the beholder, but I find an old, diseased tree like that to be VERY unappealing... especially since it's spewing seed to create similar offspring.

This year is going to be a lot of the same from last year, continue thinning out the trees all the way to the property line. One big difference this year is I don't have to drag them to the burn area, chip in place is my new policy.

Still have some fencing to do, areas I cleared last year, and maybe a new shed.

FIL has indicated he wants to get rid of his storage in Oregon and put his stuff on our property. He has offered $5k towards the new building. He wants 12'x20' and the rest can be mine. Kind of hard to refuse that offer...still need to pick a site though.

We not only can't build on the wetland or the buffer but we can't even mow the grass or pull out windfallen trees. It is a no touch area so you in effect lose the land. Very aggravating when a wetland can be a hill with no surface water ever. Just groundwater within a foot of the surface for 14 days after March 1. All I want to do is maintain my pseudo wetlands as pasture.
