If you decide to do the 3rd function later, it's not hard to do, you can buy all the pieces yourself and put it all together if you want. I just did a install on a new nx5510 , I will do a thread on that install in a little while.

Congratulations, Rocky! That's a great tractor at an excellent price. +1 on the physical damage insurance, before you even take the tractor off the dealer's premises. :thumbsup: No matter how careful TSO is, weather and other drivers are the big risks right now. Your homeowner's policy won't cover loss en route, and I gather you don't already have other coverage that would. You can always cancel the policy after you've got her home, if you don't think you'll continue to need it.

That's right, HST is the #1 reason I wanted to upgrade my Mahindra. Besides being easier to operate, Hydrostatic drive is better for precision loader work like loading/unloading trucks, well I guess just plain better for any loader work period. If you were going to be out in the field all day, then gear would be fine.

I have tried HST, and it is very easy to use.
But I think I am nearly as fast and precise with my shuttle shift.
If I were buying new today I would consider HST, but I would be just as happy with a power shift.

Go try one before you make your comments... Then you might have something useful to contribute. Besides, we're not talking about industrial wheel loaders, we're talking about compact tractors.

I've owned mechanical shuttle and HST, and I've used PowerShuttle. Gear transmissions belong in farm tractors & up ... In my opinion, there is little room for non HST transmissions in modern compact tractors. Except for the few folks that actually primarily "farm" with a compact tractor (in which case a gear trans excels over HST for constant ground engaging work) ... HST is an easier, safer, and likely more reliable option for compact tractors.

There isn't a major difference between a power shuttle and HST in how precise you can be, but it's usually easier with an HST setup...and maybe a touch faster.

The one thing I will say is that HST is safer in some ways. Say you're slowly moving a load towards a trailer with a machine that has a power shuttle....you're using throttle, and brake to get into position. If your foot slips off the brake, you're going to hit the trailer. With an HST system, if your foot slips off, you stop moving.

My guess is that is the only advantage. And a good feature, for sure.
