NX4510 Mirror Mount Bracket Failure

Hello all,

Just noticed this on my tractor last week. Ive had the tractor 2 years and 2 months. I was surprised the mirror and mount would cause a failure like this. The only thing I ever "stressed" the mount with was a pair of hearing protection muffs. Dealer said that part was only under warranty for 2 years. Just an FYI to check this before your 2 year warranty is up!

Easy to weld.

Looks like the weld pulled free. Pretty easy to fix if you have an angle grinder with a flap disk, a welder, and some paint.

I do have a small 110v welder, just missing the skill and experience haha. May as well try and fix it on my own and save $90.

Do I need to disconnect the battery when attempting to weld this back together?

I don't think so. Your current is going to hit the easiest path to ground it can, so if you put your ground close to your work, you should be okay. However, it's easy enough to remove the cables from the battery.

If you do not disconnect the battery to weld that your warranty will be null and void. I was told this by a dealer. My right side bracket was welded under warranty before I got my tractor. My present dealer is fixing another issue with it right now and told me about the repair before I bought it new. He thinks that the dealer repair may have done damage to my ECM. They are waiting for a call from Kioti on that issue and a completely clogged catalytic converter.

Good to know! Thank you both. I disconnected the battery and made the ground near the weld. Its not pretty but back in service.

HaHa! NONE of my welds are pretty...but they're going to hold for sure! :cool2:

Who cares as long as it holds. My mirror bracket was welded before I bought my tractor. I recently found out about this repair. On my way home with my tractor I saw the mirror bouncing around. I pulled over and saw that the weld had broken. Having welded for many years since 1971 all I could think of was "What a piss poor job" I don't need or use the mirror and never fixed the bracket.

haha true true. I ended up welding the piece back on, painting it orange, and leaving the mirror off. I also very seldom used the mirror. Its only function was holding my hearing protection. Now I need to find another spot for those

I use the FEL lever to hold mine when I am not wearing them.

I think the only reason the mirrors are still on mine is because I'd have to find someplace to store them.

Ill try the FEL lever. I kept two pair (cheap-o's) on the mirror. It was nice having a back up or a pair for my wife. Mirror is now on a top parts shelf but I am sure will be moved a few times before finding its permanent home, Id hate for it to fall even though I don't use it.

If I didn't know better, I would have thought you took a picture of my tractor and my broken mirror bracket! My mirror got hooked by a wild cucumber vine and the vine won.... easily. In all honesty, this is a lousy design. That foot guard bracket(pipe) is very thin + the mirror arm is quite long = broken mirror mount. Had I know this was such a weak point, I would have removed the mirror right away. I really only used it when I operated on the road, anyway....

Agree. Guess they had to cut costs and save money somewhere. I wish they would have had some sort of foot rest or other option for that mount.

Foot rests would have been a much better option than mirror brackets.
