NY Farm Show-Now Playing

All you New Yorkers, which there seems to be a lot on TBN, and anybody else who don't mind traveling, if you want to take a break from winter or are looking to buy a tractor, the NY Farm Show is the place to be. Last year I went to my first winter farm show and that is where I started my tractor search, There was the big 5 tractor manufactures, plus most of the "other" tractor manufacters discussed on this site, including Chinese tractors.
Although I did not buy a Tractor at the show, It did get me off
to a good start, eventually I did purchase a Mahindra later in the year (Saw the 4110 at the show )
Steel bldgs are on my priority list this year, got a good price last year at the show but did not buy, But my neighbor did buy a ATV for $1200 less than the local dealer. Plus, there is everything else Agriculture, including wine made in the Finger Lake's Region of NY ( I did buy that! ). It is Worth a trip

I'm going on Saturday. there's lots of livestock and milking equipment that my wife and I will be checking out for our farm. It's the best place to see just about everything the agriculture market has to offer.

RonNY, I went yesterday, and it was a nice way to kill a day. Great displays from some "off" brands like Mahindra and Farmtrac. Tho' I was surprised to NOT find Kioti, Cub, or Buhler there (did I just miss them?).

I would not call Mahindra an off brand. They have over 22% market share in the 40-60 HP market in the USA. They are the 3rd largest tractor company in the world. I do not sell Mahindra or own one but they are dominate in the 40-70 HP utility tractor market.

Just came back today(Friday.)Since the BIG 4 were well represented (4th largest in US being Mahindra), I really did not notice Kioti, Cub, or Buhler missing until I read your post. There were a few A T V dealers and one steel bldg dealer also missing ( the one I was hoping to see again this year) , but my favorite Ashley Lynn Winery was there again in the Cargill Bldg. This year there was no Horse Industry presence, it was mostly Dairy. It was a good family day /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Where do your figures come from on this? Not trying to dispute you but to be honest I would be shocked if Mahindra has that much market in that class. In my travels I do not see very many Mahindra tractors, yet I see a lot of John Deere and New Hollands in that hp range. I would think MF has a larger market in that hp range then Mahindra. It makes me wonder if that research is telling the whole truth or if there is some small print somewhere. But who knows, I could be wrong and I know it would not be the first or last time. When I went to the show last year, Kioti was pretty hard to find. They only had one tractor and a very small display.

I'm heading there tommorrow (Saturday), I'll see if I can spot them.


BTW, that big Mahindra display earned them at least one tractor sale last year.

You'll notice I did put "off" in quotes. Not that I perceive them to be such, but unfortunately there are many colorblind tractor owners that would....

You need to read my posts on this thread: Mahindra #4 in USA sales. It's the 40-60 PTO HP in a full-size tractors is where Mahindra is dominating. I'm not talking about pregnant compacts that have over 40 HP but farm tractors used in hay and farming operations mentioned in my posts. The Figures come from AEM. AEM members are restricted from publishing these figures and only AEM can do so. AEM has a copyright on it's reports and exclusively controls this data in such a manner that these figures are common knowledge in the industry but are not for public release. AEM Industry Flash Reports are all you will ever see in public view.

Well, I went to the NYS farm show today. Had a great time even though the weather was (is) horrible. It snowed all day, and fairly hard at times.

It did seem like a smaller affair this time around. Of the tractor brands I saw at the last show, three were not there this year-- Kioti, Goldoni, and Bulldog (Dong Feng?). I found it odd that Kioti didn't participate, when names like Farmtrac and Zetor/Century had fairly large displays. McCormick was also a no-show, but they weren't there last year either.

Branson was there this year. I don't recall seeing them last year, in fact I thought those tractors were sold exclusively under the Zetor/Century name in this area. Obviously that isn't the case, they had several tractors on display.

Mahindra, Case, John Deere, New Holland, Farmtrac, Kubota, And Massey Ferguson went all out, with big displays and lots of tractors.

And I, of course, sat on them all. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
