NYS Registration Sticker Shock!

I'm not sure this still is the case. I had read they are changing this, and my dad just registered his trailer this week for the same reason. He was doing it every April 1st.

The web site still states it is pro-rated

I think the same for motorcycles now also. I registered a motorcycle I bought in mid September and had to pay the full year. I didn't know until I went to register it.

Leave it to NY to take something simple and make it hard and so confusing it's no longer clear.

same here, but its up to you to bring it up. When I went to register my bumper pull camper, they wanted full year price and i said i thought it's prorated?! :confused2: The lady just smiled and nodded and did something in computer and gave me lower prorated price. how that for service. greedy B!@#$!

I usually renew online; the prorated amount has always been calculated automatically (so far).

Texas still has farm trailer plates. I have a 16' low boy that was about $56/year for annual license fee (no inspection). This year I switched it to a farm trailer and it was $5.30. Now that I can afford! You do have to sign a form that the trailer is only used for farm use. But that is all mine is used for so OK.
