Now Ohio is the opposite, RVs plates are relatively inexpensive. Put a porta potty, sink and air mattress in a gooseneck horse trailer and the license plates drop 70 or 80%.
I can see the state charging high fees for contractors using gooseneck trailers every day, but I think mine has been only used once or twice this year. Too bad they don't have farm or non-commercial use rates but then too many people would cheat.

In Indiana you can get farm tags on a trailer. Not sure if its much cheaper but it keeps you away from CDL in most cases.
