Yup JB you are correct there are 1 trip and 2 trip code strategy's. Trip basically meaning drive cycles from cold to fully warmed up and driving.

1 trip faults are higher priority as far as causing excessive emissions like a misfire or an unplugged or bad sensor or an inop O2 heater etc.

The general rule of thumb is about 50 starts w/o a subsequent fault and the ECU clears them out.

yep.. no problems before while it was setting, in fact, up untill 2m ago.. it was my daily driver truck.. never any enigne issues really. in the 12 ys I've owned it, I've put in a radiator, water pump, TPS, and have cleaned the TB once. It's also had a fuel pump replaced back when the truck was only 3ys old. well that and tune up items like plugs cap and wires, and an oil change every 3000 miles, and air filters every 3k or 6k depending on what it looked like, trans service a couple times, and diffy / xfer case changes a couple times.. PS oil change, and um.. I did do rear brake cyls once, :) along with brake pads and shoes and rotors as needed.. :) it's actually been a well maintained truck.. just looking rough around the edges,a dn really, was too ligth for my growing hauling needs.. was much safer for me to upgrade to a 1 ton for my heavier day to day hauling as I was routinely hauling nea rthe vehicles hp and brake limits too often for comfort.. that's the only reason I replaced it..... I'm guessing the CE lamp was from the hard start / low voltage.

Probably no real problems, But I just got a scanner cause I was getting a code on my Subaru. Reading the manual it mentions how some codes wont clear until X number of drive cycles and I THINK some code wont register until so many drive cycles.

So it's possibly the light may come back on, but I suspect it was probably just a code telling you there was low voltage in one of the systems. Especially if there were no problems before it sat.

don't know if it's true for all Dodges. But my 2500 diesel set code with weak batt.I Replaced both batts. I believe my code read low ECM voltage

For future reference, any Chrysler with a digital odometer will read out the codes for you with no special tools. With the vehicle off, turn the key ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON and leaved it in the ON position but without starting it. The code(s) will display in the odometer display, you can scroll through them with the trip reset button and clear them by holding the reset button.

If it still has the analog odometer, follow the same procedure but watch the MIL light. It will flash to indicate the code. i.e. 1 flash - short pause - 2 flashes is P0012. I think it always ends with a 12 and that is a non code to tell you it's the end of series.

i had an 84 pontiac sunbird that would do that. you could short 2 terminals on the plug unde rthe dash and make it flash codes.

interesting on the low volt code on the 2500, thanks for posting. might just have been my issue.
