The seat switch is there to prevent you from standing on the ground and just reaching over to move the tractor forward or backwards 1/2" while changing 3pth impliments. As long as it is connected you have to climb aboard, sit down and then move it that fraction of an inch. That way it is safe!!!
They are also there to stop you from standing up so you can see your FEL when you are trying to do something stupid, like trying to get too close to your garage while clearing snow.....You should climb OFF your tractor, walk around to the front, measure your distance, then climb back on, and move ahead the 4" that you need to hook that drift and drag it back, the SAFE way.
Re my OP, I was only pointing out an unusual stopping situation caused by a seat belt left by me in a weird position so others might avoid it in the future ( safety ). And no, I won 't wear it unless I deem it needed
