Hey there guys,

I changed the hydraulic filter on my L2800DT today. The SUDT that I drained out (and put back in) was darker than brand new stuff. It didn't smell burnt or in any other way unusual. I've been attentive to the tractors maintenance but I will admit I pushed the hydraulic filter service 30 hours over
schedule, shame on me.
Anyhow, what do you think? Should I have replaced the fluid or just do it at the 400 service? An afterthought was to have it analyzed. Because of technical difficulties /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif, I had to add a gallon of new, so I figure an analyses wouldn't be true.

Thanks,
C.M.

Hey, I thought this thread was going to be an off color xxx rated joke about hydraulic fluid. I'm disappointed. Don't see many dirty jokes about tractors after all. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

You should have changed the fluid and filters at 50 hrs. Don't forget the front axle too!

OK...you screwed up! Life on this planet isnt going to cease. Do the proper change NOW...and do it at the next normal interval.

Dieselsmith & Sully2,

The dealer performed the 50 hour service, that I didn't neglect to do. I was actually 30 hours over my 200 hour service, I did everything except the hydraulic filter at 200. After thinking about it I guess I shouldn't expect the fluid to look new after 180 hours considering there are some backhoe hours involved also.

Well..those hours and (milage) are rough estimates anyway. If it was CRITICAL...they would have installed a cutoff and if the service isnt done AT or BEFORE the "indicated" time...the tractor wouldnt even start.

If you are OVER on some maintainence..do it ASAP...if not..just wait till the next scheduled timeframe. NEVER FORGET though..if you ..in this case...check fluids at say 200 hours..and it looks NASTY...change it...ASAP...dont wait till its "suppposed to be "changed..say at 300-400 hours mark.

Good fluids...good filters...good maintainence and dont abuse the rig....and someone can use it to dig the hole when they bury you!.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I checked my B2910 manual and Kubota's recommended maintenance schedule. Transmission filter and oil are not on list until 300 hours. Is your L2800 different than Kubota's schedule list on their site? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Here is a link to the schedule. Click Here
