Say what you like about 'em, ... for me, they really do work!! I live in deer country and it used to be quite a problem,.... no more with the whistles I'm here to tell you for sure !!
CHEERS!. . tug[/QUOTE]

Interesting. My SIL moved to the Ozarks and had a near miss with a dear. She had a deer whistle installed. She then hit two deer. They would hear the whistle and jump into the road:eek:. She removed the whistle and has not hit one in 6 years. Go Figure:confused::)

I have heard similar results around here. They were popular in the early 90's but no more. I never personally had any but have only hit one deer, well my wife, in 38 years of combined driving in Indiana Big Buck Country.

Tell the SIL in the Ozarks that she has them on backwards!:)
Really, the deer there are ambidextrous, and will sometimes run into the road instead of away. I think it has to do with the 'blond' gene.
As far as the cattle and other animals they don't effect, I think they are on a different wavelength- like the mice deterrent machines don't work on dogs and cats but do on mice and gerbils and similar rodents.

I run Bosch brand fog lamps under the bumper on my Dakota, these have a nice wide beam that lights the ditches and fields up way off to each side and out in front of the truck. These are the Pilot 150 model lamps, summer time they have clean lenses (fog beam pattern) and in the winter they have a yellow fog pattern lenses in them. The clean reflects back to me to much in the snow giving me a headache. The yellow leneses give me more defination in heavy snow driving conditions. For those rural back country roads with no oncoming traffic there are two large Bosch Profi model driving lamps with 100wt bulbs in them on my roll bar. These only get used on rare occasions or in super heavy rain conditions when I am out storm spotting for the NWS at night. Please make sure whatever lamps you use, are aimed properly. So many of these new cars have such poorly aimed lights, its no wonder the owners complain about light output. I have seen brand new vehicles with paper plates still on them, with the lights aimed into the trees, both headlights and fog lamps. In Europe and the UK, its Illegal to use fog lamps unless weather conditions require thier use. You can set up a pair of Bosch driving lamps or Hella 500's into your brights so they only come on when you trigger your brights, that way they will be off when you dim your lamps for oncoming traffic. After some research I realized you can't use those xenon in my headlamps as the lenses are not the clear plastic style. Before going with a bolt on solution, I decided to try one of those kits ($20.00 1000-2500 grit)to refresh the faded plastic lenses. It worked well, so I put in some of the 35% brighter sylvania and it does make a big difference. Probably better than new. thanks for all the suggestions guys, we will see how long the lenses last before they cloud up again.
