After getting a speeding ticket doing 57 in 55 zone. we no longer purchase fuel in Ill. unless desperate.
Fill up in Mo. when going east and coming west fill up in Ohio or Ind.
The state has lost considerable in fuel taxes.

here in pa can still get off road. but i am sure whoever is behind the no more off road in illinois, will try to screw more of us out of our money. remember when diesel was LESS then gasoline. now it is more. what happened!?!? i thought diesel was a by product of making gasoline and didn't take as much refining as gasoline, therefor cheeper to produce, but they now charge us more for it.

I was told by my supplier that the fuel of yesterday was nothing like the fuel of today...ultra low sulfur diesel fuel requires more refining to meet EPA standards....which gives oil companies all the reasons they need to increase prices:mad: So much for cheaper "by-product"

No such problems herein Idaho getting off road. Alot of places carry it. And more and more places are starting to carry NON-ethenol fuels also

i'm in north central pa, just got fuel friday, feb10. and off road was $3.649 per gal and regular unleaded gasoline was $3.599 per gal. on road is $4.059. and yes it is all getting very expensive! i would think that proves they are just playing games. some areas are higher with one type of fuel then other areas.
Two weeks ago I had off road delivered to our farm and paid less than regular gasoline but it's all to darn expensive.
These comparisons may not be completely accurate if the reg gasoline includes highway tax and the offroad diesel does not. You can get the tax refunded on gasoline that you use offroad in old tractors, etc. I have no doubt we are paying significantly more for diesel than gasoline. It used to be that diesel price went up in winter (home heating) and gasoline went up in summer (more people driving); now it's high all year round!

I tend to follow the same thinking, as far as the states that "ticked me off, lol" but with IFTA taxes being what they are, the road use tax is still collected isn't it? (as far as commercial vehicles). Seems they have figured out a way to tax us even when we don't spend any money in their state. However, it does do away with a little bit of the private sector, in nobody is employed to sell you the fuel that you are going to pay the road use taxes on anyway.

Well we still definitely sell it at the refinery where I work. I will tell you it is the IRS (as in federal) that comes in and checks our records, or at least they did when the red dye was hand added to the fuel. When our loading facility was up-graded a few years back, an automatic system was installed for injecting the red dye into ULSD sold as off-road.

At my usual filling station in NH, I have no problem filling my yellow 5-gallon fuel container with off-road diesel for my tractor....

That's me too, but yesterday (Saturday 2/11/12) and in North Carolina.

You got that right!!!
Shame...get away from Chicago and Cook County, it's a nice state...

You beat me to It Roy. I live a few counties west of chicago. close to Dekalb If anybody knows where that is. I couldn't agree more. Chicago really has some great museums and the like but it is not a place that I would ever consider calling home. I guess this is going to be an IL. only thing. just one more kick in the shorts. Its somewhat ridiculous as once the delivery charges are added you can go to the pump and just buy regular diesel for the same price. I guess if you use thousands of gallons delivery makes sense but when you only use 100 per week its kinda hard to make it worth having a tank. either way it seems like we are getting screwed. just one more way to get into your shorts I guess. Also heard from a friend that IL is now going to start charging a $65 per firearm tax. I really dont like the way this is going here at home. either way hope you all are having a great day. thanks for your responses.

A few local stations around here sell off road fuel yet. I just got 196 gallons delivered in PA for $3.449. You get a discount though for 150+ gallons.

There's an IL congressman from southern IL who has introduced a bill to secede from Chicago/Cook County...
I'd say he has the right idea...that, or disestablish Chicago as a city.
