Sorry to hear your vacation wasn't 'up to par.' At least at home, you got some of your reading in, right? I'm on vacation these coming two weeks and we're staying put right here at home. Looking forward to getting some work done around the house, taking some mid-afternoon naps, reading some books that have been on the back burner for some time, and just 'smelling the roses.' And, what's best about this vacation is it's free.

Thanks, TD. Those storms are pretty much in central and north central Wisconsin, and we're in South central, so they haven't been affecting us too much. Actually, where we had been for vacation would've been hit real hard last Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, so we wouldn't have been able to do much even if we had stayed up there!

Loved your story about golf in S.A. I've never had the chance to play in another country. My son played on a junior Ryder cup team in '98 and they spent 2 weeks in Scotland playing against a Scotish junior team. I was going to try to go over for the last week they were there when they played St. Andrews, but I wasn't able to work it out. Funny thing is that the Scots consider a person a "junior" if they are below the age of 35! So all of these 17 and 18 year olds from the states were playing guys who were in the upper 20's and lower 30's! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif The good thing is that our guys beat their guys!

Oh yeah. I forgot to mention, I did find a couple of dealers up there (Green and Orange), but I figured if I stopped to look, the flies might damage the tractor and the dealer would blame me!! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Good thinking on the fly damage at the dealers. I've seen what those flies can do.

I think the good news if you had stayed on vacation is that the rain would have scared away those critters.

I haven't played in Europe yet although I spent 3 weeks in London last year. Just couldn't find the time. I did play in the Carribean last year. Island golf on St. Thomas and St. Kitts. Between those two courses and the S.A trip I've decided that 1) I can't play with rental clubs (always put the blame on the equipment) and 2) I'm not good playing any course completely surrounded by water on at least three sides.

I've always said the best vacations are usually spent right at home.
