Hey there Bird. Good to see you are back on deck, even if for a little while /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I have been putting some antiseptic cream on my cuts because they started to go red and sore.

I guess there would have been all sorts of bugs and junk living in that slime !!

Frank, the dam filled on new years eve in a big storm. I have pumped from it almost every week and it has only just run dry now.

The mud I got stuck in was silt at the bottom that I couldn't pump out.

Just looking at my register and we have only had 10" of rain this year since the dam filled. Negligible water ran in from that rain as it was good soaking rain.

So I am happy to have got 9 months out of the dam.

Now it is deeper I should get a full year out of it. I hope we get at least one decent storm a year to fill it.

They forecast one today so here's hoping !!

Cheers

Hey, Neil, a pair of nice boots just bubbled up here in Oozama I. I'm not going out to rescue them for you, however. My tractor's been out there stuck for a week and its been raining almost ever since. I'm in trouble.

Hey Glen

I knew you'd read about my OZama soon enough (Oh is that a bad name around here??)

I wanted to get mine out (after a few beers and the rest of the Bathurst Race) so it didn't harden and then I'd need a jackhammer to get it out !!

I hope you get yours out soon !!

Cheers

Tractor plunges headlong into giant mud pie... engulfed with blade still on dry land. Take heart, Neil, you know we'd all do exactly the same thing if given the chance. If I ever unstuck the thing, my next trick would be a faster running start next time.

Some smart-aleck will no doubt tell you to install turf tires, so you won't sink in so much.

Hope neither the tractor nor the boots are entombed permanently. If that stuff hardens, you'll need a jackhammer and dynamite to break them out!

Please keep us advised on the recovery effort.

Nah tractor is out and I have ALMOST got all the mud off it. It sticks like you wouldn't believe !!

The tractor did climb up on top of the pile at first (I'd never have gone that far if it didn't) and even the back wheels started to climb up, then woosh - down I went.

No more forward or beackwards progress was then possible.

The more I dug, the more it stuck until it was formly caked around every possible protrusion under the tractor.

It looks pretty funny stuck with the blade still on terra firma hey !!

No sign of boots. I went looking yesterday but no hope for them I am afraid.

Some future generation will find them and assume the weare had rotted away.

Just like the iceman !!

Cheers

Neil,
What kind of rear blade is that? Don't believe I have ever seen one like it.

Looks like the blade sits much farther from the rear tires than I'm used to, and it also looks like the whole thing can swivel????

Can you provide details? Thanks.

Bob

Bob

It is a 4 foot blade but made specially for me with the heavy duty headstock from a 5 foot model.

It is made by an Aussie company and their website details are:

http://www.johnberendsimplements.com.au/prods/gradestd.htm

(Sorry I dunno how to make it into a link)

I can offset the blade to either side and I guess that is why it is so long compared to the ones you are used to (I haven't had anything to do with any other blades, only the ones I see on TBN)

When it is offset, it swings much closer to the rear of the tractor but out to the side. It lets me glade off to the side. Handy for the edge of my dam wall etc.

Hope this helps and nice to see someone taking an interest in an Aussie Implement !!

Cheers
