Re: \"Oh the weather outside...\"
I just flipped the floodlight on and looked out at the driveway. We picked up about another 3 or so inches since the youngster and I were out playing with the tractors a couple hours ago. When we started out, the accumulation was around 6 to 8 inches. Forecast says the worst (best?) is yet to come. Heavy snow is forecast for overnight, with winds picking up tomorrow.
#3 Son (at 18, the last of 3 at home) and I had the tractors out pushing / pulling / piling the white fluffy stuff. Temps here have been in the low teens all day, and it made the snow fluffier than what we normally see. Wifey said the local weatherguy thought it would take 18" of the snow we're getting to equal an inch of water.
We did our driveway and a BIL's which are both 300 footers with parking at the top. Also caught a couple shorter ones for nearby neighbors. I even "organized" a few things in the garage so I could keep the rear blade on the Kubota.
Some snow was deep enough that I had to either spin the rear blade 180° and go backwards, or use the FEL.
I was watching Junior on the Ford 1210 (ag tires) and he seemed to be getting a little better bite than I was with the R4's on my
B7500. The skinny R1's look like they cut through the snow, where the wide R4's want to "float" sometimes when dragging a big pile, and need to spin a little snow out of the way before they bite. Both setups were handling the work OK, and neither has chains.
We're about an hour and a half West of JDGREEN4ME, near Lancaster...............chim
