Kubota 2910
Well, Mr Handyman decided to change his own oil and do the other routine maint. chores on his 2910 at the 200 hour mark, ok, so its more like 216 hours.

Went to the 'bota store and asked for an oil filter for a 2910. Wallyworld provided the oil.

Owners manual made it look easy. Got under the tractor and wow! Two oil drains, each with its own little sump. The main problem is I have more than a little ole 2910. Got a 'bota FEL and have a quick hitch front mount frame for my snow blower.

One plug was easy enough but had to disassemble a midmount pto guard to get at the other side. Course the tractor is metric and the snowblower and frame mount are english bolts.

After much knuckle busting and cursing, I got the oil out and went for the filter. The old one even came off just fine. Problem the 'bota store's replacement and the old filter have different part numbers and are different sizes and its 6:00 pm and the tractor is blocking the garage with no oil in it!

It appears the smaller replacement filter does fit the gasket o-ring seal and does not leak.

Could someone look up there part manual and check the following numbers?

The old filter was a Kubota 16271-32092

The new replacement is Kubota 1627-32090.

The new one is smaller so there is less filtration I guess.

Do you guys think its safe to run? No leaks so far....

Rick

I have bought my last 'Bota filter. The last three have had different part numbers and different sizes. I'll cross reference the old filter (that looked like the original) with a Wix/Fram/Napa whatever.
Kubota is whacked in the head when it comes to filters and their ever changing numbering system.

Oil change tip: I use the FEL to lift the front wheels completely off the ground then it is easy to get to all the drain plugs.

Yep, the FEL is a great built in Jack. Just be sure to use jack stands or something if you craw under.

Update.

Called my dealer and Bo is right. It is a change in parts numbers. Apparently 'bota has consolidated its filter inventory with a one part fits all filter. Would have been simple to note that on the filter and saved some anxiety on my part.

Same thing on my green 870. It took a return trip to the dealer and a phone call to another dealer to convince me that they had indeed downsized the filter and changed it's number. It too spent 2 days in the shed with no oil in it.

Hey BoMan,
When you figure out the cross referenced filter numbers will you please post them?

Thanks,
Boone

Yep, but I'm hope not to reinvent the wheel and I'm hoping somebody else has the info on hand... hint hint.

How about a Hastings filter LF386 or Wix 51568. Also crosses to a Wix 51344.
