13 hours? It's a warranty issue.
That's a common misconception. Not talking about this particular situation, just in general.
If you use and maintain a product in a manner that is consistent with what the manufacturer recommends and requires and your equipment has an issue with materials and/or workmanship during its warranty period, then it's a warranty issue.
Problems that happen to occur within the warranty period are not automatically warranty issues.
If that seems confusing, watch this video and listen carefully to what this owner did, and now wants coverage for. Pay particular attention to what his wife, (the camera operator), says. She's also under the impression that anything that occurs within the warranty period is a get-out-of-jail-free-card. While the video may seem credible to some folks, if you really listen to what they're saying, they really shot themselves in the foot when they decided to break out their camera and shoot this attempted expose' in the first place.
YouTube - Problems with Deutz Engine's (part 1)
Read the comments posted by viewers. I have several in there because during his "video testimony" he actually admitted that after his engine failed, he went back and read his manual cover to cover. He then said the recommended angle spec and warnings of engine damage were "buried" in the manual, which I thought was funny because anyone can download and look at his product manual online and see how "un-buried" the specs and recommendations actually are. (And not only is there warning text in the manual, but there's also a page with pictures of the machine's warning decals in case some become illegible and you want to order replacements.) If he had read and followed what the manufacturer said, he wouldn't be out an expensive engine.
It's not that I don't feel sorry that he's out an engine, I just think that he's totally downplaying his role in its demise, and that even though he knowingly did so.....he still wants warranty consideration. The video is nothing more than an attempt by the owner to coerce the dealer and/or manufacturer into paying the $$ by applying the old "squeaky wheel gets the grease" theory.
Once again, not saying anything like this is what's going on with the machinery in this thread, just posting for warranty misconception consideration.
