Don't know if you can get to the crankshaft pulley or not. If you can you might try rotating it backwards a little while pulling on the dip stick.

I thank you all 4 your helpful advice. I put them all together; made a contraction with a short piece of chain and used a tire mount-dismount bar for leverage, and wham it pulled out in one piece.

I assume you meant to say "contraption" rather than "contraction" but either way it worked.
