Oil & Fuel Oil dipstick

Im working on a Mahindra 4500 and the oil dipstick has broken off about a quarter inch in. Ive tried pulling it out but not getting any joy from it. Is the dipstick threaded or something?

Not sure on that model, but if the block has a tube for the dipstick those are typically just pressed in. A twist and pull should get that tube out- and the broken part as well.

Look at the base of the tube that the dipstick slides into. If you see threads and a nut, you can usually just loosen the lock nut and rotate the tube out like taking out a bolt. Again usually, the threaded portion is long enough that you can adjust the length of the tube to adjust where the oil level reads on the dipstick oil level marks.... :)
