I changed the engine oil and filter on my new Cub Cadet 3235 today as recommended at 10 hours first time. I replaced the original filter, which is 2-5/8 long with a Fram PH3614 filter that I use on our 2 Saturns. It is the same diameter and thread but is 3-3/8 long. Does anyone see a problem with this? Also is the Hy-Tran oil Iused in my old CC 1450 suitable for the hyrdrostatic drive on the new tractor? Thanks, Bob

I don't believe I'd use a filter that was not recommended, or was not a direct crossover. The internal components and workings may not be compatable with the motor even though it screws on alright.
Your new tractor has a warranty. If the dealer determines an engine failure due to improper lubrication, your out. New engine about 1500.
Same with your hyd. oil and filter. Use what's recommended or it may cost you alot of money.
