Hi Bob;
I have spent probably more time than I should have on looking for information on oil filters. On many sites that have opened up various oil filters, hands down Fram has come out the poorest filter. They site items such as cardboard end caps on the filter media, poor glue joints that attach the filter, a pretty much useless bypass valve that is only a metal to metal seal with no seal to prevent dirty oil from getting back to the engine. I bought a filter for one of my motorcycles and they wanted to give me a Fram filter. When I remarked how poor a filter they seem to be, the parts person agreed and went on to say that he worked for a Dodge dealer and knows for certain that four V10 engines were lost due to Fram or Fram manufactured filters.
I too have used Fram for some time, but in light of the information I have seen on several web sites, I feel I need to buy Wix, AC, Motorcraft, Purolator for my vehicles. Sorry to be so hard on the Fram products, but I have heard some bad stories over the years and just decided to pass on what I have read. If anyone has had luck with a product, it probably makes sense to stick with it.
