Oil & Fuel Oil Filter

Go buy a Napa 1334 or 1344 (for larger engines) and be happy! American made is better that wherever... Even a Champ 2808 is great..

Not arguing with you but you dont buy Hoyes just cause you get a $0.70 discount on your oil filter? Thats not much to make it worth it is it. If your ordering the shipping is covered pretty much anyway, heck youd save the $2.10 on fuel alone with the order.

I always joke and say that if you complain and just mess with the manager you can get 10% off on anything anywhere!

Don't know how your engine is made. The wix it's a little longer than the Fredricks / Hoye filter. There's some type of metal guard close to the filter on my 3110 & the longer filter makes it a little easier to get off. I usually buy 4 oil & fuel filters at a time

Hi 'bruce1966us',

Origin has little to do with what will best support a given application.

Reduced Oil circulation will reduce the life of any engine. Reduced oil pressure from an improper design will reduce the engines lifespan. Idiot lights are a bad thing IMO, when they do light up there is a very short time period to safely take appropriate action. Also if a gauge is not monitored and not knowing the safe perimeters it to is useless. So, I guess the idiot light does best serve the masses with a non-mechanical inclination, but try to tell them it means to STOP Now!, repair shops just luv this, how is that for boosting home town business?

Just to keep the discussion going :D :

1064 is another Wix/NAPA filter equivalent to a Yamar OEM oil filter used on some models. I have used this one too, and I consider it interchangeable with 1334.

It is about the same size as 1334 but a quarter inch taller and slightly more slender. This one might be easier to thread in, for Yanmar models with the alternator bracket right next to the oil filter.

Thanks 'California',

Shrimpers here use multiple massive sized filters because they run 24/7. The micron filtration is maxed and the oil after weeks still has no carbon buildup. They swear by it...

Mine has the side pannel that is about level with the end of the filter installed. I use a filter wrench to loosen it, then my hand on the bottom. I may have onetime actually had the side pannel off, i dont remember?

If a person really wants to educate themselves on oil filters it is as simple as saving one of every brand they have ran on a particular application.

And after draining them real well is grind the top of the can around the pinch roll crimp at the end or hacksaw them grinding is the best imo if you dont have a cutter. I have an actual oil filter cutting tool it is nothing more than a pipe or large tubing cutter.

There is a WORLD of difference in filter manufacturing process I can talk for an hour probably on the subject. I have cut hundreds apart and it DOES make a difference what price you pay and the name brand.

The chinese filters IMHO are pure junk the ones I have cut down anyway I wouldn't take a chance using them on a regular basis but thats me ymmv as always. I probably ought to add that for all I know Wix may be made in china too but they are way better made and cost more than penzoil and red label el-cheepo discount parts store china .99c filters fwtw.

I cant say about the Hoye ones if they are made in china or what I have not cut one apart to give credit where its due.

Japanese filters are probably going to be well made I have never cut a Yanmar one or even had one I was aware of and other than Toyota and Honda OEM that I have cut apart thats where I get my reference from on that they are very good design/product.
