2003 Kubota BX-22
On the Kubota Tractor part site that someone else listed, they show two oil filters for the BX tractors with two different part number... Does anyone know why or what the difference is???? They are both the same price and the pictures look identical. If it is two different vendors, then which is the better quality?

When the BX2200 was first introduced, there was only one filter recommended with a list price around $8.50. But there was an identical Kubota filter size & shape under another code that many dealers substituted in place of the higher priced filter at around $4.50. However I have no way to confirm the story, I’ve only used the 70000-74034 and don’t remember which filter was 8.50 or 4.50. I’ve been told that is how the different recommended filters came about. The story may or may not be true.

I'am finding out that Kubota has differnt filters that fit my 3710

1- the engine filter they have a long and a short one both made in USA boxed in kubota boxes

2-the hydrulic filter-they have one with a magnet in it for $10 more or one without magnet (you just take the magnet out of old one)

3-the HST filter they have several part #s some made in japan some not -all high pressure=high cost

I don't know if kubota is just trying to confuse the competion and or owner- but all these filters have different part#s and prices and all work on same model tractor /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I had the same problem last spring with my BX22. The part number per the manual stated one thing and the dealer gave me another filter with a differant #. From what I remember, been up since 4 am doing the driveway now at work with NO coffee, is that the origianal filter is one PN and some other oil filters made over seas are different.

Let me find that thread. give be a few minutes for seach and coffee.

Junkman,
I think that it was Art that explained it a year or two ago. The 70000's are imports the others are domestic. It think that is what he said. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif OR maybe it was the other way around.

Junkman,

Other way around /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif The 15241 series (of which there were three variations) are the larger grey or black filters like the original from the factory. These were imported from Japan and the cost was too high so Kubota USA found a US manufacture to make the replacements for about half price and created the 70000 series. For about a year you could get both but they phased out the 15241's and now if you order one you'll get the 70000 part as its replacement.

I wish I could still find the 15241's. If anyone knows of a dealer that still has some on their shelf let me know.

Have fun,
Michael

"Item # 70000-74034" ... "Item # 15241-32090" ...

I have a slight variation on the theme. The filter that my dealer gave me for my BX23 is: 70000-15241.

I have seen comments here about the replacement filters being smooth and not having flats. This one has 14 flats.

Just FWIW. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Junkman,

The 70000-74034 is a US made filter and the 15241-32090 is the Japanese OEM filter that is no longer being supplied. kubotastore.com may still have some of the OEM filters on hand.
