Yea my back windows dont work right and im to lazy to have fixed them. No problems with the trans switch yet knock on wood! No new exhaust either!! Glad i havent had that problem knock on wood. My power lock switches in teh front keep going bad, im on like the 2nd or 3rd used one on the driver side!! i need to buy some new ones instead of used ebay ones i guess?

In the last 2 years i have put new brakes and rotors (no complaint just time for them) battery (again time thing). Put a used egr valve from ebay on (new one was like $145 and i paid like $14 on ebay), new O2 sensor. New plugs, replaced the bad wires. One of those door switches. Water pump, replaced the valve cover gasket. New radiator fan motor. Replaced the exhaust gasket where it broke and was blowing by in 2 spots, one bolt was just weak and it snapped in the head flush removing it, so break out the easy-out and prayer, fized it no prob. Bearing on the hub on the pasanger side, axle on the driver side. 4 new tires! Put a used AC compressor (ebay again) on as i was pretty sure that was the leak but could not locate it and did not want to spend $250 on a new one ($45 well spent!).

So yea i have put a few bucks in it. But i buy good used parts when i can and its an item you would use a used one. I also buy online and get parts using online codes to save about 40% off Advance Auto retail prices.

Just my .002 Soundguy but why go to a higher cost oil in a smoker instead of cheaper recycled etc? Synthetic will go thru that thing like corn thru a goose just wondering?

This is the reason that i dont run syn in anything but my Toyota. They all burn or drip oil. Id rather put $3/qt in it than $5/qt oil.

this is a semi update on my 2000 gmc yukon.. 180km 2qt/3000m oil drinker since new.. ( but that's normal :) for that gm engine.. )
One thought, I've heard the AFM (Active Fuel Management) was a leading cause of oil consumption and many people had good results using an aftermarket tuner to disable AFM nearly curing oil consumption. If you have the AFM technology in your 2000 Yukon, it may be worth looking into...

recycled valvoline is 4cents a quart MORE expensive here.

I'm trying out the syn oil to see if it has an impact on the oil consumption. it's going to be a test for at least a few oil change cycles to see what consumption difference, if any, is noticed.

once i have that data in hand..I'll make the decision on what to keep doing with her, food wise. Ideally, I'd like that engine to last another 5ys at least. if syn oil heads me in that direction at a annual cost of less than 100$ (more ) then I'm ok with it. rest of body is fine.. no rust..e tc..

Ok its worth a try.

I use the cheapest oil I can get in smokers Oreilys brand is cheap and waly has oil on sale too brand is not an issue in these engines mix at will so buy the cheapest. Its lasted this long 5 more years should be ok as long as it never runs low.

I doubt it will help my experience arguably is synthetics will start an engine consuming AND leaking more often than not if put in later in life but ymmv as always and I hope it helps you.

i do know she makes no rattle sound anymore.

i had originally thought it was a valve train rattle.. but was told by someone else it was something different entirely on that engine.

I bet that thing easy lasts another 5 years no matter what oil you put in it as long as you dont drive more than 15k a year in it. Those engines should easy go 300k miles
