Oil & Fuel Oil foaming in trans, Normal?

When was the oil last changed?
Does it sit outside. I would wonder about water in the oil. Water will cause hydraulic oil to foam.

water in the oil. was told for another issue, water collects in the bottom. and oil on top. so try letting tractor set for a day or so and not being ran. and then remove the drain plug in the very bottom. and let some oil run out. put drain plug back in, and top off the oil.

Last oil change in trans was at 300 hrs, due for change in about 70 hrs. It does not sit outside, always garaged, and FEL and BH if not on are under cover. No cloudiness in oil.

Because hydraulic oil emulsify water that will not work. If water has contaminated the system then the only remedy is to drain and replace.

I would check the vent. It may be plugged.

Mine a lot of times has some foam near the top...usually not a whole bunch...

I would carefully inspect the piping from the filter screen to the hydraulic pump. Air can go where oil cannot, and you could be drawing in air through that inlet hose.

If a man pulls he lower plug and is rewarded with water but not emulsified oil, he'd have his answer. I doubt a man would repeat the practice with no reward.

I have seen water emulsified with oil to the point that a centrifuge failed to separate it, and other times I have seen water only at the bottom of the tank. I think it depends on the oil, and the speed of the water insult, and the overall size of the insult. I think water encroachment through tank breathing is less likely to be emulsified than water entry from direct means, such as rain.

Also arrangement of the apparatus seems to matter. If there is no place in the bottom for water to be, water will be entrained pretty quickly.

The op says his oil is clear, so I don't suspect water as his issue.
