Oil for the hydrostatic trans

Up here in the Rochester, NY area, the tranny filters are going for $14/ea. -- and the hydro fluid @ $10.39/qt -- OR $36/gal. before 9% NYS sales tax. I'm starting to have some buyer's remorse.

You need to buy parts on the net. Hydro filters here at C&G in WI are $ 12. Drive system oil is $ 30.50 / gal.......PLUS.......NO SALES TAX IS CHARGED!!!!

You are right on the hydro. The entire case oil doesn't need changing, just top offs. I've never read in the manual that it is even required. Change the filter every 100-150 hours and you're good to go. Its not a part that needs a lot of maintenance and they are very very reliable.
