Oil in my John Deere 455

I've been using AMSOIL Synthetic SAE 30/10W-30 in my 1983 Allis Chalmers 5015 for a couple of years and it's good stuff. It provides the winter protection that I need for New England winters without having to change to 10W or 20-20W as called for in the owner's manual. I haven't been able to find a similar non-synthetic. My tractor blackens it up in no time though...

I still wise they would make a 0w-30 or 0w-20 for diesels.

To add to hit, you posted on BITOG site
I don't understand what that means...

I cannot stand that place.
Agreed. Some very strange policies over there, but a lot of good info if you can sort things out. ;)

I just read that rotella is a hydrocracked dino oil. Not a true synthetic.
I've used full synthetics for years now, and I'm a believer! Delvac 1 for me..

Should say to add to it...

But BITOG site is odd. I have seen threads removed, members (many) banned, product pushing etc ever since Bob sold it years ago..Now Helen is the owner and it well, I do not post in certain areas since it is a flat-out joke.

I know the additive section sucks.

Sorry!

I guess I don't keep up with the latest developments in oils. I just found it out. Must be nice to be well informed on everything.

For sure it's a strange place. A short while back they were discussing the "Cash for Clunkers" program, which is obviously gov't/politics; I posted a funny story called "Cash for Codgers", and got a nasty-gram asking if I wanted a vacation from the site for posting a political topic.
