Anyone have an idea how to drop the front drive shaft so that you can remove the oil pan on the LK3054? The shaft is inside a protective cover and I am at a loss as to how to drop the shaft. I understand the shaft itself has a couple of pins but I can't figure out how to remove the protective cover on the shaft. I bought this tractor and loader with 500 hrs from a contractor who must have misthreaded the oil plug and did a fine job with some JB Weld.

1.find the roll pins on the drive shaft.
2.make sure that they are horizontal... not vertical
If you attempt to knock out the roll pins in the vertical position, they will come into contact with the oil pan. then you have a poblem.
3.knock out both roll pins... (front and back)
4.slide the collars toward the center of the shaft.
5.drop the drive shaft out in your face !!!!

Thanks, but I don't see any pins on the protective sleeve. I'll check again.

sorry about that
You clearly stated the protective sleeve, and I missed it,,, as big as Texas

OK, Let me try again please...
The protective sleeve has 4 bolts in it. 2 of them are toward the rear, and 2 of them are about half way... Remove the bolts and the sleeve will slide together (after you have broken the paint loose at the telescoping connection). . then you can take the drive shaft out..
Be sure to drop lots of dirt and stuff in your eyes. And if you live in Texas, you have to be lying in a fire ant bed to properly do this. hope I helped virg
