Oil pressure light stays lit

My Yanmar 2010 did the same, put a gauge on it, shows 60# when it first starts. It could of been a wire but I would rather have the gauge I do not like lights.

I tested the wiring just as jmanatee2 said. All is okay. I then tested the oil pressure with a gauge and it read 5#. Reading too low. Does anybody have any other suggestions at this point? I'm thinking it could be the oil pump.

You've just ramped it up several notches - time to pull the oil pan and inspect the oil pump pickup screen.

Was the 5 psi reading at idle? Or with the engine at a higher speed?
Anyway, the most likely culprit is going to be the oil pump releif valve being stuck open... pull the pan and check it. If the pump looks good, the next thing is to measure the bearing clearances. Hopefully it's going to be pump troubles.

My father had a 245 DT that did the same thing, soft plug came out of the front end of the cam.
Easier to check than pulling the pan.

This is what I was going to say. There really isn't much use in pulling the pan anyway. The pump is behind the front cover, all that is in the pan is the pick up. The B-series seemed to be more prone to this, the fix was to weld in a steel plug instead of the factory aluminum plug.
